For the added safety, comfort, and convenience of our patients having surgery, Prairie Eye Center performs most of our procedures in our Medicare-approved Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). Conveniently located at our West Iles campus, our state-of-the-art ASC was designed to personalize your surgical experience while offering the latest breakthroughs in technology, surgical techniques, and pre- and post-operative patient care.
Our cataract patients enjoy the added convenience of reduced paperwork and waiting times when compared to hospital-based cataract surgery appointments. Most of our cataract patients are not required to have additional lab testing or blood work done before their procedure, which helps reduce costs for patients, Medicare, and the insurance industry. Because of the strict operating standards of our ASC, there is also a reduced risk of infection or other major complications.
Having your cataracts removed in our outpatient facility is the most cost-effective method available today. Each year, outpatient cataract surgery saves the government, insurance companies, and patients hundreds of thousands of dollars in reduced billing. Because we accept assignments for Medicare, our fees are the lowest allowed.
